The Park Board will report to the City Council and all decisions will be approved by the Board of Alderman. In January 2009, the City approved the purchase of roughly 12 acres for the new City park.  In June 2009, the City approved for the Park Board to proceed with exploring financing options in order to buy playground equipment and to put up a fence around the park land.  In September 2010 the Park Board began construction of 2 pavilions and a playground in the park.
