Two Christian County school districts will benefit from the more than $146 million in interest-free bonds for school construction projects announced by Gov. Jay Nixon’s office May 28.

The Sparta R-3 and Spokane R-7 will receive almost $4 million in interest-free bonds, saving the districts a considerable amount of money over the 20-year life of the loans.

National Geographic called it “The most dangerous eight seconds in sports.” With the arena stands full, more than 30 cowboys from near and far lined up to muster their courage and their bovine during the annual Ozark Booster Club Bull Ride June 4 and 5.

“We were very happy with the results,” said Booster Club veteran Mike Crain. “Everything came together really well.”

During two nights of riding, rodeo fans had enjoyed thrills and spills courtesy of riders from Ozark to Mississippi. During Friday night’s action, Michael Manes walked away with the overall win with a score of 87, as well as $1,080. Second went to Brandon Wesson, followed by Levi Shrable and Kyle Maxwell.
